Quick answer

NuShake installs seamless aluminum and copper gutters plus custom flashing for chimneys, valleys, and walls. Flashing is the metal that keeps water out where the roof meets other surfaces. Bundling this with roof work saves you money. Call (209) 253-0506 for a free inspection.

Gutter installation cost in the Bay Area.

Seamless aluminum gutters run about $10–22 per linear foot installed. Copper runs $25–40. A typical single-story home needs 150–200 feet, so most jobs land in the $1,500–4,500 range. Bundling with a roof replacement saves 10–15%. Your final price depends on home size, pitch, access, and fascia condition.

Why gutters matter more than most homeowners think.

Your roof sheds water — but your gutters decide where that water goes. Without gutters, roof runoff saturates the soil next to your foundation. It stains and rots fascia boards. It erodes landscaping and pools against exterior walls. Over a few wet seasons, that damage adds up to far more than a gutter installation.

Flashing is the other half of the water-management system. Every seam on your roof — chimney base, dormer walls, roof-to-wall transitions, valleys — relies on metal flashing to channel water off the roof cleanly. Corroded or improperly installed flashing is one of the top causes of interior ceiling leaks in Bay Area homes.

Brian's approach: inspect the full drainage system at every estimate. Gutters, downspouts, flashing, and drip edge all get reviewed together — because fixing one component while ignoring another just shifts where the leak shows up next.

What NuShake installs and repairs.

Seamless Aluminum Gutters

Formed on-site to your home's exact dimensions. No seams means no joint failures. Available in 5-inch and 6-inch profiles. Color-matched to fascia.

Copper Gutters

The premium choice. Copper lasts 50+ years without painting. It develops a natural patina that resists corrosion. Popular on older Bay Area craftsman and colonial homes.

Gutter Guards & Leaf Protection

Micro-mesh guards keep oak leaves, redwood needles, and debris out. Dramatically reduce cleaning frequency. Backed by manufacturer warranty.

Downspout Installation

Properly sized and routed downspouts carry water at least 6 feet from your foundation. Brian's crew plans routes to avoid landscaping conflicts and underground utilities.

Custom Chimney Flashing

Step flashing and counter flashing around every chimney. The most common source of interior water intrusion on Bay Area homes with fireplaces.

Valley, Wall & Drip Edge Flashing

Custom-bent flashing for roof valleys, roof-to-wall transitions, and drip edges. Always installed during tear-off — never skipped to cut costs.

Bay Area conditions that affect your gutters.

The Bay Area has a Mediterranean climate: long dry summers followed by concentrated winter rain. That pattern creates specific gutter problems you won't find in wetter climates.

A pre-winter inspection from NuShake catches all of this before rain season arrives. Free — no obligation to commit to any work.

Gutter materials compared.

Material Lifespan Cost (installed, per LF) Notes
Aluminum 5K seamless 20–30 years $10–16 Best value; most common; 40+ color options.
Aluminum 6K seamless 20–30 years $14–22 Needed for steep-pitch or large-catchment roofs.
Copper 50+ years $25–40 Premium; never needs painting; ages to green patina.
Galvanized Steel 15–20 years $12–18 Industrial strength; used on commercial and steep-slope projects.
Vinyl 8–12 years $5–9 Shortest life; cracks in temperature swings; NuShake does not install.

Prices are Bay Area 2025–2026 estimates. Final quote depends on home size, pitch, access, and current fascia condition.

How we install your gutters.

  1. Measurement and inspection. Brian or Mark visits the property and measures every run of fascia. We check fascia boards for rot, verify pitch, and note any tile or steep-slope considerations.
  2. Custom forming on-site. Seamless gutters are formed from a coil on our truck. Every run is cut to your exact length — no seams, no joints to fail later.
  3. Installation and hanger spacing. Gutters are hung at the correct pitch for drainage (1/4 inch drop per 10 feet). Hangers are spaced every 18–24 inches for structural strength under heavy rain loads.
  4. Downspout routing. Downspouts are sized, positioned, and angled to carry water at least 6 feet from the foundation. We work around landscaping and existing hardscape where possible.
  5. Final water test. We run water through every section before we leave. You watch the flow, verify drainage, and sign off on the installation.

Bundle gutters with your roof — save 10–15%.

When you replace your roof, Brian's crew is already staged at your home. The fascia is partially exposed during installation. Adding gutters at that point saves mobilization cost, scaffolding time, and coordination overhead.

Most homeowners who bundle both projects save $300–800 compared to scheduling gutters separately. The bundled estimate shows line-item pricing so you can see exactly where the savings come from.

Gutters & flashing FAQ.

How often should I clean my gutters in the Bay Area?

Twice a year is the standard recommendation — once after the fall leaf drop and once before winter rains arrive. If you have oak, redwood, or sycamore trees within 30 feet of your home, plan on three cleanings. Blocked gutters during Bay Area winter rains can cause fascia rot and foundation damage within a single season.

Are gutter guards worth the cost?

For most Bay Area homes, yes. Homes near leafy trees see the biggest benefits:

  • Far fewer cleanings
  • Less time on a ladder
  • Lower chance of clog-related water damage

Micro-mesh guards perform best. Expect to pay $8 to $15 per linear foot on top of the gutter cost. For most homeowners, they pay for themselves in 4 to 6 years through saved damage and labor.

What gutter size does my house need?

Most Bay Area single-family homes use 5-inch K-style gutters. Homes with steep pitches, large roof sections, or significant rainfall exposure often need 6-inch gutters. Brian measures your roof's drainage area, pitch, and rainfall intensity before specifying size — guessing leads to overflow and damage.

Can I add gutters to a tile roof home?

Yes, but the fascia attachment method is different from a shingle roof. Tile roof overhangs vary more than shingle homes, so gutters need custom-formed hangers and often a drip edge extension. Brian's crew has experience with the Spanish tile and flat tile homes common in the East Bay and Tracy-area subdivisions.

What is flashing, and why does it matter?

Flashing is the metal barrier installed wherever your roof meets a vertical surface — chimneys, walls, skylights, and valleys. It directs water away from joints that would otherwise leak. Failed or corroded flashing is one of the most common causes of interior water damage. New flashing is always installed when NuShake replaces a roof section.

How much do gutters cost in the Bay Area?

Expect to pay $10–22 per linear foot for installed seamless aluminum gutters in the Bay Area. Copper gutters run $25–40 per linear foot. A typical single-story home has 150–200 linear feet of gutter, putting most projects in the $1,500–4,500 range for aluminum. Bundling with a roof replacement saves 10–15% because the crew is already on-site.

Does NuShake bundle gutters with roof replacements?

Yes. When you replace your roof, it is the ideal time to replace your gutters too. The crew is already staged, the fascia is exposed during installation, and you save on mobilization costs. Brian quotes both together in a single estimate so you can see the bundled savings clearly.
